David is a believer once you research his life. Later in life he realized a lot of things he thought he had done on his own, that God was there with him all along.
He is the only person to have completed Seal, Ranger and Tactical Air controller training.
From his life we can learn a lot about suffering, a lot about the Christian life including the ability to overcome terrific odds and achieve great outcomes.
David went from 300 lbs and virtually illiterate to being a Navy Seal, to being one of the top Ultra Marathoners in the world. And he did it coming from a background that included horrible physical abuse, and at one point abject poverty.
